Step into the magical Arctic night and discover one of Lapland’s oldest winter traditions: evening burbot ice fishing. This 4-hour experience takes place at our private basecamp on Lake Niesijärvi, reached by a scenic drive and a short snowmobile sleigh transfer. By 15:00 it is already dark in Lapland, creating the perfect atmosphere for this unique nighttime adventure.
Burbot — made in Finnish — becomes most active in midwinter evenings, and local fishermen have long headed onto the ice at dusk with simple rods, bait, and patience. Your guide will share the stories and techniques of this northern tradition before helping you drill your fishing holes.
You can fish outdoors under the starry Arctic sky or inside a heated Lappish tepee set directly on the frozen lake, illuminated by the warm glow of a campfire. Hot drinks and light snacks are provided throughout the evening to keep you comfortable.
With no light pollution and wide-open views, Niesijärvi offers excellent chances to see the Northern Lights dancing above the frozen landscape.
